Salford & Bolton Fuchsia Society class display

spreading the word
On the 18th and 19th August 2001, Salford & Bolton Fuchsia Society displayed and entered a class in the Bolton Show.

The main objective was to promote the fuchsia and our society, with a view to enroling new members.

Bolton Show takes place at Leverhulme Park, Bolton, and is a Fun Event for all the family, with Arena acts, craft & garden tents, music stage, road shows, classic car show, dog show, horse show, a large funfair and community stage.

Over the weekend, there was a real mixed bag of weather for the event, sunshine, dark grey ominous clouds, followed by on the Sunday afternoon an almost monsoon deluge, but this did not dampen the spirit of anyone taking part, or visiting.

In fact, this downpour did us a great favour, for the plant sales were boosted by the people sheltering from the rain, by looking and buying fuchsias.

It's quite thirsty work, spreading the fuchsia word, with high humidity in the marquee, the fuchsias seemed to like, quite warm when the sun shone.

We all look forward to meeting the new members that enrolled, and hope that we will be able to pass on our fuchsia knowledge.
